Join me on my quest to eat more "real food"! I passionately believe in the health benefits of eating food made from fresh, "real" ingredients and I want to share this with others. On this site you will find SIMPLE recipes for turning fresh ingredients into tasty meals, in less time than you might think.

Thanksgiving Sides:
Classic Cranberry Sauce

I have always loved my mom’s cranberry sauce and she has always insisted that it is so easy to make. Now that I have finally secured the recipe from her–I realize that my mom was right. A kale recipe that actually made both Ed and I say, “Wow, this is really good,” instead of, “This is not bad, considering it has kale in it.” A recipe so good, it might induce us to proactively go out and buy kale, whereas usually we are just using what was given to us in our weekly produce box.

Kale is packed with nutrients like Vitamins K, A, and C, calcium, beta carotene, and the list goes on. It would definitely be a superfood, but kale [Continue reading ...]

Roasted Beet Salad
with Sauteed Sunchokes on the side

Tonight we conquered a unique vegetable (actually a “tuber”)–the Sunchoke! Ed and I had tried sunchokes once at a local restaurant–we had never heard of them and the server piqued our interest–but, we did not care for them. They were very hard and not super flavorful. So, why try them again? Well, they came in our weekly vegetable box and I don’t like to waste things, so I decided to try cooking them myself.

I must say that my opinion of my own cooking has gone up and my opinion [Continue reading ...]
