Join me on my quest to eat more “real food”!  “Real food?,” you ask?  “Ummm…  Isn’t all food real?”  I’m talking about food your great-grandma would recognize, food whose ingredient label would read: “green pepper.”

I passionately believe in the health benefits of eating food made from fresh, “real” ingredients–for both body and mind.  I believe that fresh food is better for the mind because it tastes better, and great tasting food makes me happy.  If happiness is not convincing enough, I also believe that fresh food is better for your body; delivering more vitamins and micro-nutrients without the fillers.

Eating more “real food” may sound like a lot of effort so I want to share what I’ve learned with others.  I was not a gourmet chef when I started this quest, but I have learned quite a bit about cooking along the way.  And the big secret is… it’s not that hard!  On this site you will find SIMPLE recipes for turning fresh ingredients into tasty meals, in less time than you might think.  You’ll also learn time-saving tactics, such as making friends with leftovers.

And, please note, I am not a purist!  I do sometimes use non-fresh foods when the convenience benefit outweighs the tastiness benefit of a fresh option.  (See future post entitled “Ten foods I have tried to make fresh and it’s just not worth it.”)
